Bergdorf Goodman Launches Holiday Campaign “Bergdorf Goodness”

(New York, November 17, 2020) This holiday season, Bergdorf Goodman was inspired to celebrate the goodness that is all around us - goodness that exists in the values that we embody as a community and in the actions that we take to support it. Now, more than ever, we recognize the importance of coming together to support one another, and with the launch of Bergdorf Goodness, the aim is to use our voice to share this message across all our platforms.

The Fifth Avenue windows at Bergdorf Goodman have long held their place in the iconography of New York City holidays. This season, the windows make a splash in a different way, with each window of the dazzling installation capturing a different core value that is emblematic of goodness: love, hope, harmony, joy, peace, equality, kindness, and unity. The values are literally and figuratively reflected onto all those who view them, as the three-dimensional letters are faced in polychromatic acrylic mirror. David Hoey, Senior Director of Visual Presentation and longtime window dresser at Bergdorf Goodman, and his team of artisans have conceptualized and created the illustrious windows to deliver this message in an impactful way.

In keeping with these core values, Bergdorf Goodman believes strongly in investing in our community for the future. We maintain that everyone should have equal access to basic rights and resources. As such, we are excited to partner with City Harvest and the National CARES Mentoring Movement, two organizations that are working to level the playing field and fight against food insecurity and inequities around social and educational infrastructures for young Black people respectively.

Bergdorf Goodman is also pleased to announce our “Goodness Giving” holiday initiative. Beginning November 23, we will be donating 3 percent of sales every Monday through December, up to $100,000, to the “Goodness Giving Fund” benefitting City Harvest and National CARES Mentoring Movement. We are proud to have partnered with over 70 brands that will join us in supporting the Goodness Giving Fund through an additional percentage of sales every Monday throughout December until Christmas.

Customers will also have an opportunity to donate to the fund through various BG channels both online and in-store.

Founded in 1982, City Harvest is New York City's first and largest food rescue organization, committed to rescuing nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste, and delivering it, free of charge, to help feed New Yorkers in need. City Harvest has always been about neighbors helping neighbors, especially when we need each other the most -- after 9/11, during the Great Recession, and now during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the pandemic, City Harvest expanded its operations to meet the growing need among New Yorkers -- rescuing and delivering more than 67 million pounds of food since the beginning of the crisis, an 89 percent increase over the same period last year. With New Yorkers experiencing food-insecurity surging nearly 50% during this crisis, City Harvest expects to nearly double the amount of food it is rescuing and delivering between July 2020 and June 2021. Donations from the Bergdorf Goodness Giving Fund are projected to help feed over 100,000 New Yorkers.

The National CARES Mentoring Movement is a pioneering, community-mobilization initiative that directly addresses the life-shredding effects of intergenerational Black poverty and lays a blueprint for community recovery. Anchored by a 58 U.S-city affiliate network, we are the nation’s recognized leader in the recruitment, training and engagement of African American mentors, and the only organization providing holistic programming on a national scale to undergird and advance impoverished Black children by providing them with the emotional, social, academic and career-readiness support they must have to become self- sustaining, successful contributors to our society.
