Eric Severson serves as Chief People and Belonging Officer at NMG, leading its Power of One people strategy in addition to overseeing people operations, corporate communications, and environmental, social and governance (ESG). Eric joined NMG in September 2019 with proficiency in creating systems to manage talent and organizational performance. In 2020, he rolled out the company’s integrated working philosophy, NMG|Way of Working (NMG|WOW), that empowers associates to work whenever, however, and wherever to achieve their best results through the Power of One. He also leads the charge on the retailer’s ESG efforts to advance sustainable products and services, cultivate a culture of belonging, and lead with love in the communities in which the company serves.

Eric formerly served as Chief People Officer at DaVita Inc. and Co-CHRO at Gap Inc. Prior to that, he spent part of his career at Macy’s. Eric received his B.A. in English Language and Literature/Letters from Penn State University and a master’s degree in English Language and Literature/Letters from Arizona State University.

He currently resides in Dallas, TX with his husband. For nearly 20 years, he has served as a director on the boards of various organizations including HR People + Strategy, Society for Human Resource Management Executive Council, The Felton Institute, La Napoule Art Foundation Advisory Board, and the IM Human Advisory Board.
