The Neiman Marcus Awards is a new platform to recognize and amplify breakthrough luminaries in fashion globally.
The platform features the return of the prestigious Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion. In February, NMG announced an extension of its platform that exemplifies the power visionary leaders have on the fashion industry: the Neiman Marcus Award for Creative Impact in the Field of Fashion and the Neiman Marcus Award for Innovation in the Field of Fashion. The addition of these two accolades signify the program’s intent to look to the future of the industry while nodding to the retailer’s 85-year legacy of celebrating global fashion luminaries and delighting the luxury customer.
The current award is a statue designed by William King in 1961. The casting is done in Texas by Schaefer Art and Bronze Casting/Tommy Ladd, with a marble base created by Omni Marble, Inc.
The reimagined awards are an extension of NMG’s growth strategy to Revolutionize Luxury Experiences through our differentiated business model. The platform celebrates our brand partners who share an interest in our innovative approach to retail and purpose-driven commitment to creating impact. Neiman Marcus will partner with award recipients to conceptualize unique activations and immersive experiences, investing the full strength of its merchandising and brand marketing magic to maximize the program’s reach to the US luxury customer.
Brunello Cucinelli received the 2023 Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion.
Cucinelli represents fashion’s pinnacle of luxury delivered to customers' growing demand for elevated lifestyle designs. His impact in the community and commitments to humanistic capitalism amplify his standing as an icon in the industry.
As part of the program, Brunello Cucinelli designed the Icon Collection for Neiman Marcus. For the first time in the history of their partnership, each piece of the limited edition collection will be labeled “Exclusively Designed for Neiman Marcus,” and select styles will be uniquely numbered. The collection includes women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, and bags, and will be exclusively available at 10 Neiman Marcus stores and online in April 2023.
Jonathan Anderson was selected to receive the Neiman Marcus Award for Creative Impact in the Field of Fashion for being a prolific voice and force of measurable influence for a storied house. A decade into his tenure at LOEWE, Anderson has revitalized the luxury fashion house. His modern take on the brand’s rich history, coupled with a renewed commitment to craftsmanship has earned the house commercial success and solidified Anderson as a leading voice for his generation.
Through this awards platform, Neiman Marcus will further strengthen its ongoing partnership with LOEWE by executing unique activations and immersive experiences to amplify the fashion house and engage the true American luxury customer.
As recipient of the first Neiman Marcus Award for Innovation in the Field of Fashion, Amina Muaddi represents the power of creativity and has successfully achieved an expedited rise in the luxury industry. Her innovative footwear designs are instantly recognizable, combining unique shapes with volume and unexpected materials.
After launching her first official collection in 2018, Neiman Marcus quickly recognized her talent and launched her line in Fall 2019 to great acclaim. Since then, Muaddi’s footprint with the luxury retailer has more than tripled and her sales trajectory continues to climb, proof that she has grasped the attention and loyalty of the Neiman Marcus customer. Muaddi translates her own energy into immaculate designs, providing luxury customers with a transformative experience when they wear her pieces.
On March 5, NMG hosted a gathering in Paris to celebrate the Neiman Marcus Awards and pay tribute to the 2023 honorees. The event also marked the commencement of annual customer programming that will harness the full strength of Neiman Marcus' merchandising and marketing magic and its deep relationships in the fashion community.
"Bringing together the beating heart of the luxury industry was an incredibly important component of how we reimagined the awards platform," said Geoffroy van Raemdonck, Chief Executive Officer of NMG, during the ceremony. "Tonight, we came together, united by our passion for our customers, to celebrate visionaries in the field of fashion who Revolutionize Luxury Experiences."
NMG gathered industry leaders and creative forces, alongside global brand partners, past Award recipients and top customers. More than 50 fashion brands were in the room, collectively reflecting nearly $200B in total revenues and employing nearly half a million people around the globe.
In 1938, Stanley Marcus and Carrie Marcus Neiman instituted the Neiman Marcus Award amplifying emerging designers from Europe and America that later became icons. Since its inception, it has honored more than 150 luminaries, including Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada, Valentino Garavani, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani, Missoni, Elsa Schiaparelli, Salvatore and Fiamma Ferragamo, Pierre Balmain, Estee Lauder, Oscar de la Renta, and Baccarat, among others.
Today, the Neiman Marcus Awards is reimaging ways to recognize visionaries in the field of fashion, honoring those who Revolutionize Luxury Experiences and share our purpose-driven approach. The 2023 recipients of these awards will collaborate with NMG on a unique expression of their brand that comes to life through exclusive activations for Neiman Marcus customers.
